National Club Golfer Great Britain & Ireland Top 100 Golf Courses List
It is a lively collection of courses with a number of venues included that do not figure in the comparable Golf Monthly, Golf World and Top 100 website rankings.
Indeed there are six courses in total that are included in this list but don't feature at all in the other three publications. A pair of English links (Seaton Carew & Goswick Links), a duo of Scottish links (Luffness New & Panmure) and Conwy in Wales are all included here but not elsewhere.
We welcome this freshness and are delighted to see these excellent links featured at the expense of inferior inland courses.
Royal Worlington & Newmarket, always a controversial course when it comes to top 100 lists, also makes their grade unlike the other three rankings.
However, three glaring omissions, all of which feature in the other three lists, are the Irish links; Rosapenna Sandyhills, Enniscrone & Portstewart. It is a very brave decision not to include these and somewhat surprisng. Less controversially, Broadstone is also not to be seen here whereas it does feature in all three of the other lists.
In summary the list is a welcome edition to the usual rankings and hopefully provides some freshness.
It should be noted that the three courses at Woburn along with Queenwood and Wentworth West were not considered.
