National Club Golfer Top 100 England

National Club Golfer Top 100 Golf Courses England List

National Club Golfer Magazine produced their latest Top 100 England in 2025 and the results can be seen below. The methodology, which placed an emphasis on the number of times and how recently the panel had played the courses, ensured some varied results!

NCG first published an England list in 2017 and whilst this third iteration will raise some eyebrows it is a marked improvement on the inaugural and second versions.

Comparing it to the equivalent lists from Golf World and the Top 100 website there are 5 courses that exclusively feature on this list. These are; Royal Cromer, Dunstanburgh Castle, Chart Hills, Bude & North Cornwall and Enville (Highgate).

As you may expect all of these are in the bottom fifth of the list with Royal Cromer the highest placed at 82nd position.

At the opposite end of the scale there is no sign of Wentworth (West or East) and also Coombe Hill but this was at the respective golf clubs request. The courses at Woburn (Marquess, Dukes & Duchess) were also not considered at the clubs request. More interestingly, St. Mellion (Nicklaus), Hadley Wood nor Bearwood Lakes are included here but they are in the other two lists.

Golf Empire founder, Ed Battye, was a panel member and has played all of the courses on the list and below you can find links to his golf course reviews with his own personal thoughts.
